ESP32 Smart Home Automation System with Voice & App Control

Project Overview

Developed a 4-channel smart home automation controller designed to manage household AC loads safely and seamlessly across multiple digital and physical interfaces. Built on the ESP32 platform, the system connects directly to the ESP RainMaker cloud ecosystem, allowing real-time device tracking and multi-user access via native iOS and Android apps. To overcome common internet instability issues, the system features local manual switch overrides that maintain complete functionality offline. It integrates seamlessly with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa ecosystems for hands-free voice operation, while Firebase and custom IoT Cloud platforms handle remote telemetry, event logging, and state synchronization. A high-contrast OLED screen paired with dedicated status LEDs gives instant, local visual feedback on load states and network connection health.

Problem

A 4-channel AC smart home automation system featuring ESP RainMaker cloud integration, offline manual override, OLED status monitoring, and dual voice assistant compatibility.

Features

100% Uptime Reliability: Achieved zero control latency locally by integrating physical switch interrupts that function independently of active internet connections. Seamless Voice Integration: Successfully mapped dual voice assistant systems to sync state changes across connected devices in under 200 milliseconds. Enhanced Diagnostics: Reduced troubleshooting overhead through real-time load state readout on the local OLED and dedicated LED indicator array.

Technologies Used

ESP32, ESP RainMaker, C/C++ (Arduino IDE), Firebase Realtime Database, Google Assistant API, Amazon Alexa Skills, OLED (I2C), Relay Control Circuitry
